Samuel L. Jackson (with his wife, LaTanya) was contemplating returning to New York with his family when the success of Pulp Fiction—for which he received an Academy Award nomination—catapulted him to the top of Hollywood’s list of in-demand actors.

The Jacksons asked designer Cecil N. Hayes to help them decorate their Tudor-style house in the San Fernando Valley.

“Sam and LaTanya frequently host benefit dinners and needed a space that was personal but could fit a large group,” Hayes says of the dining room. Behind the walnut table and 1920s walnut chairs, with Robert Allen damask, is a Renaissance Revival sideboard.
A Persian rug hangs above the family room’s fireplace, whose mantel holds stoneware pots and a pair of West African chiwaras, fertility symbols. Samuel Jackson found the model houses atop the oak entertainment center in Mississippi while he was filming A Time to Kill.
Posters, articles and awards that chronicle Jackson’s acting achievements cover the wall of his office. Personal keepsakes include a boxing glove autographed and once owned by Muhammad Ali and the instrument featured in his 1998 movie The Red Violin.
Inside a 2,100-square-foot guesthouse is the actor’s screening room: “the best toy I could have,” he says. Jackson estimates that he owns between 6,000 and 7,000 laser discs. The mahogany low table and end tables, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, are from Morocco.
The master bedroom’s African furnishings, like the Madagascan table and the 18th-century Moroccan jewel holder, mix with an Eastern trunk and bombé commode. The doll on the window seat is from the collection of LaTanya Jackson and the couple’s daughter, Zoe.

Jackson married actress LaTanya Richardson in 1980, whom he met while attending Morehouse College.[2] In 2009, the couple started their own charitable organization to help support education.[116] The couple, who live in Los Angeles, California, have a daughter, Zoe, born in 1982.[117] She works as a sports channel producer.[116]

Jackson has revealed in an interview that he sees every one of his movies in theaters with paying customers claiming that "Even during my theater years, I wished I could watch the plays I was in — while I was in them! I dig watching myself work."[118] He also enjoys collecting the action figures of the characters he portrays in his films, including Jules Winnfield, Shaft, Mace Windu, and Frozone.[119] He is a comic book and anime fan.[44]

Jackson is bald, but enjoys wearing unusual wigs in his films.[120] Jackson has reflected on his decision to go bald: "I keep ending up on those bald is beautiful lists. It's cool. You know, when I started losing my hair it was during the era when everybody had lots of hair. ... All of a sudden I felt this big hole in the middle of my afro, I couldn't face having a comb over so I had to quickly figure what the haircut for me was."[120] His first bald role was in The Great White Hype.[121] Jackson usually gets to pick his own hairstyles for each character he portrays.[121][122] Although he did poke fun at his baldness the first time he appeared bald on The Tonight Show, explaining that he had to shave his head for one role, but then he kept receiving more and more roles afterward, and had to keep shaving his head so wigs could be made for him. Laughingly, he ended the tale by lamenting to Jay Leno, "The only way I'm gonna have time to grow my hair back, is if I'm not workin'!".

Jackson enjoys playing golf, a game he has been reported to have become very proficient at.[2] Jackson has a clause in his film contracts that allows him to play golf during production.[5][30] He has played in the Gary Player Invitational charity golf tournament to assist golf icon Gary Player raise funds for needy children in South Africa. He stated that the golf course is the only place where he "can go dressed as a pimp and fit in perfectly".[6] Jackson is also a keen basketball fan, and especially favors the Toronto Raptors and the Harlem Globetrotters.[123] He also became a Liverpool F.C. fan after filming The 51st State in Liverpool. Jackson, a known lover of Ireland, also supports a Dublin based football team Bohemian F.C.[124][125][126]

Jackson campaigned during the 2008 Democratic Primary for then Illinois Senator Barack Obama in Texarkana, Texas. He said "Barack Obama represents everything I was told I could be growing up. I am a child of segregation. When I grew up and people told me I could be president, I knew it was a lie. But now we have a representative... the American Dream is a reality. Anyone can grow up to be a president."[127]

While he enjoyed a number of small roles on films he found critical acclaim for his role in Jungle Fever in 1991.

Since then he has gone on to work on an average of three and four films a year and he doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

The actor is already cast for three films set to be released next year.

He is starring in The Avengers remake, The Samaritan and Django Unchained.

Jackson is portraying Nick Fury and joining Scarlett Johansson on the The Avengers cast and shots from the film have recently been released.

Fans have seen Jackson in this role before when he was first introduced in the two Iron Man films in 2008 and 2009, before reappearing in two of this year's biggest blockbusters, Thor and Captain America.

But that's hardly a surprise, as all four films criss-cross for the superheros to come together to make one big crime-fighting machine known as The Avengers.

The actor doesn't limit himself to film and he is currently starring in Broadway show The Mountaintop.

Speaking about his work ethic Jackson told CBS: ‘I grew up in a working class family. When I was a kid, all the adults in my house got up and went to work every day. I assumed that's what grown people do. That's what I do. I just happen to have a very interesting job that's kind of cool.’

Cool, and as his new record has proved, extremely lucrative.

Samuel L. Jackson, together with his wife, used a Germany visit, due to the Bambi Awards, to stop by the new Mercedes-Benz Museum and order a Maybach 57S for 450,000 Euros ($600,000) in the "Maybach Center of Excellence" in Sindelfingen.

It looks like the price was higher than usual due to the many individualizations, including a special lacquer finish in the Mercedes color Designo Mocca Black. Inside, Jackson's wife chose a light beige interior color.
